When you use a bigger hook your poject seems to
be completed faster. With a small hook you will be
at it longer so you use more yarn. It depends on
what your making. Do you crochet loose or more
tightly. Adjust your hook size 1 larger if it is to loose
to maintain the proper shape. Happy crocheting..

Definitely smaller hook. The knots are tighter therefore your balnket will be heavier and warmer...I like the feel of a afghan done with a small hook better.

if you want to crochet an afgan and finish it quickly, i suggest you use thick yarn with a smaller hook than recommended, it will have tighter knots but will knit up quicker
