I seem to have lost my testing kit for determining absolute right and absolute wrong. Anyone got one on hand? Correct or incorrect strategies seems to be partly a matter of opinion, and partly a matter of how results stack up. The results of his policies have not been great. But note that around the first of the year there was less noise from the administration about "pre-emptive action" and "unilateralism" and closer reliance on Condoleezza Rice's view of working in concert with other nations in ending the debacle in Iraq. It would seem, then, that Bush tacitly admits that these strategies did not work as well as expected. (Note that the U.S. at the highest levels has been "secretly" waging "pre-emptive war" for decades, and all nations, openly or covertly, are unilateral by nature, multilateral only when it suits their purposes.) Bush took some calculated risks, and his intervention in Iraq, backed by some who would like to distance themselves from it now, didn't lead to easy victory. He was wrong, for the simple reason that his strategy seems to have been less than a howling success, but what would have worked better? We will never know now. But moving directly against Iraq (hoping N. Korea and Iran would take the hint and quit sucking the nuclear egg on which nuclear powers agree they should maintain the monopoly) so far has not led to a unified Iraq, N. Korea has even more nuclear stuff, and Iran isn't cooperating either. I, personally, think our intelligence community backed by Bush was strategically mistaken and morally wrong to degrade and torture prisoners. It may have gained some important information, at the cost of a tremendous negative propaganda bonanza redounding to the benefit of our worst enemies, making Al Qaeda stronger than ever. (I personally think Osama Bin Laden cold-bloodedly planned the attack on the World Trade Center to bait such a response in hope of such a result.) Again, I think that what might have resulted from alternative paths not taken is now a moot point. In summary, the proof is in the pudding. If the Middle East and the rest of the world becomes democratic and peaceful as a result of Bush's actions and remains that way, he will, as Cheney says, be hailed as a hero a hundred years hence. The prospect seems dim.

Oh Boy...you started the pandora box. There are something which takes time to realize. Ask this question to yourself in 10-15 years you will know the answer. Nobody in world respect americans. Only 6 years ago, this country was considered a leader of free world. Now someone comes to your country, call name to you for you have done wrong, and whole world applaudes him. Don't give me simple reason that beside muslims now whole world hates us. Nazi had the same thinking that they were right and everybody else was wrong.... Currency has lost 15%. Our allies are telling us on our face that we insulted them so they are chosing there own ways. Education has actually gone down. World is slowly taking over in science and technology and wealth. The day people stop selling us things in our dollars, how will we buy oil, cars, and trillion dollars good which we have become use to? We can't. Because we have 8 trillion dollar debt ( from countries like China) and our expenses are more than what we earn in our budget. Would you like to have such a budget in your house? Is it enough or do I need to tell more that no other administration has told so many lies that noone in world trusts our world.
peace

Wrong on the war on terror. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 so all the resources we are losing in that war are being wasted. And no Afghanistan is slipping back to the Taliban because we are spread so thin Wrong on stem cell research. I read the Bible and it does not say anywhere Thou shalt not cure disease. Wrong on Immigration. Wrong on taxes. Wrong on education.
He was right when he said in the 2000 campaign that we should not be nation building. He was right when he said we should have a More humble foreign policy. Too bad he did not keep those promises
