All I know: Sudan is all muslim. Influenced by Muslim traders in North Africa.

Some reference from wiki:
" Islam was introduced in 640 AD with an influx of Muslim Arabs who had conquered Egypt, although the Christian Kingdoms of Nubia managed to persist until the 15th Century."

All I know: Food production required the work of a lot of people. And, the farms were relying on rains and faced intermittent droughts.

Wiki says: Agriculture production remains Sudan's most important sector, employing 80% of the work force and contributing 39% of GDP, but most farms remain rain-fed and susceptible to drought. (from 2003)

Hope it helps. Couldn't get much for food production, though.

All religions are old in Sudan. Before 1600, there are pagans, christians and moslems. They are all living together. I think that was the status.
