I think that people are closed minded and rude... maybe that's because I've been answering questions in the LGBT category for the last hour.
People need to wake the hell up and realize that we gay people aren't out to convert their children, make a mockery of their religion, or tell them the intimate details of our sex lives. We just want to live our lives, same as them. There are far more productive ways to spend time than hating on us.
