If you saw the season premier of Grey's Anatmoy, the young girl gave birth to a child. No one knew she gave birth and no one even knew she was pregnant. How would this happen?

Dear Busy Mom:
I am not pregnant. I was disturbed by the show and I wanted to know how it happened. I mean that girl gave birth and dumped her baby in a trash can. I would never do that!

Some people don't show their pregnancies at all. It looks like they've just gained a few pounds. I didn't watch that program, but it's medically possible, and happens almost everyday in this country.
Typically it's young girls and women who are too afraid to tell their family for fear of disownment, or their family's disapproval and disappointment, etc. There are all kinds of reasons. Others don't have the education about sex and pregnancy to understand what's going on. Shocking and hard to believe I know, but still very true. And then there are the people like me who don't show until they're about 7 months along, and even then it just looks like I've put on a few pounds. I also had monthly bleeding that I attributed to my period since it was never very regular to begin with.
We've all heard the phrase that "every pregnancy is different" well that's true. There are a lot of them that aren't "by the book" at all. Hope that answers some questions. =)

Im actually watching that show right now. It is kinda weird. It was on last night and is being repeated tonight. I dont know how she hid it other than baggy clothes. She is a very tiny little 14 year old girl. I dont see a way to hide the pregnancy. But she could have wore baggy clothes and it seems like her parents werent observent at all or even payed any attention to thier child. That had alot to do with it. But all in all her daughter should be very sick afterwards and not acting ok like she is.

Some people are already small so they do not show that much when they're pregnant. Some people may think that they gained a little bit of weight but that's it. If people never knew that you were pregnant then of course they would not know that you had a baby. By the way, I did not see that show, but it is a true story.

All the answers you have gotten are great but no one has addressed this.......Are you pregnant too? If you are and you don't want any one to know that's your choice. But please be sure to get proper health care and when you have the baby if your not gonna keep it drop it off at a hospital, police station, fire department(unless adoption can be achieved by keeping you unidentified as the mom). Well of course this is all hypothetical !

You would either have to have enough fat to mask the weight gain or give birth to a very premature baby, but the infant in the episode last night was full term. A full grown, oversize adult could barely hide that thing. It's all for the sake of a good drama, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Everybody carries a baby different, I knew a women who didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor. She had her periods and no sign of a baby. It was a shocker to all. And this lady was not fat at all.
