Ditto former responses.

1) Give away the TV. You have alot more valuable things to do with your time & your life than throw it away in a semi-vegetative state induced by television.

2) Start saving your money. If you are not good about this visit www.fool.com, the Motley Fool website.

3) If you own a credit card, cut it in two. Pay the balance off & only buy what you have saved for.

4) Pick a few short-term goals. Want to travel? Want to do a marathon? Want to hike the Appalachian trail? Learn yoga? Learn Japanese? Paint watercolors? Reiki? This personal skills stuff not only looks good on a resume, it makes you more interesting to other people.

5) Speaking of resumes, can you get some job-related stuff beyond what they give you @ work? They might pay for it - like a computer class or something related to your career.

6) Volunteer somewhere. The returns don't show up on a balance sheet, but they can be incalculable.

7) Avoid office politics. It's not why you are there.

8) If you don't like what your new work is like, don't hesitate to look around. Heck, keep your eyes open no matter!

This is a time of continued learning & exploration, if you allow it to be.

Or, years from now, it will be the time when you wished you had done/gone to/become a etc.etc........(finish the sentence) but instead you met......(fill in his name here).

Good Luck!

;-)

Always pay yourself first, you set the amount, and buy or do something within your budget. Just make sure you put money away for bills, food, rent, and savings too. You earned it , at least enjoy some of it.

I'm sorry to say this....but what life?...lol. It's all in the way you balance your schedule, but myself...I haven't been able to do it. But of course, I'm married now too. That makes it harder. Good luck though.
