I apparently said something that I shouldn't have I didn't mean it in a insulting way but he took it that way and I keep apologizing but he won't even answer my calls and I have left him 3 very apologetic messages now. ???

If you were the initiator of the fight, apologize.
If you were fighting for a good reason and he did something wrong, give him time to come to his senses and have him apologize for whatever he did to cause you to fight with him.

depends on what you did. If you don't think you were wrong then do nothing till he calms down, and if you think you were wrong them tell him your sorry.
