Because they realise that the conflict in Afghanistan could go on for ever, with the Taliban hit and retreat back into Pakistan tactics. That is why Afghanistan has never been defeated in the past. The Pakistanis accept this situation because they are afraid of their own extremists, who could cause the Pakistan Government to collapse. And it has Atomic weapons, which is very worrying. So, I profoundly disagree with you; somebody has to lay it on the line, the UN and the EU are toothless left wing talking shops. I wouldn't like to think that protection of Britain depended on that lot. NATO, has always been OK in the past.
