The real reason was because Saddam Hussein put out a contract on Daddy's life during the Gulf War. During his first day in office, Bush reportedly told intimates he was going to make removing Hussein from power a goal of his administration. When 9/11 came along, he had the perfect excuse.

Bush TOLD us first that Iraq was in cahoots with Al Qaeda, and that they were responsible for 9/11. When that was prooven false, he then told us that they had WMD's. Again, that was prooven to be false. I stopped keeping track at two excuses.
The real reason? Well, it seems that way back when daddy was the prez, Saddam had tried to have him killed (or so I've heard). Some other things happened, and Sr. Bush went into Iraq to show Saddam what was what. When it was all done, nothing was changed other than our soldiers having mysterious illnesses due to the use of chemical warfare (illegal in the Geneva Convention - does it strike anyone else as odd that there are rules to fighting a war? IT'S A WAR PEOPLE!!). Well, daddy lost to Bill, Bill was in for his 8 years, and then when Jr. Bush got into office, the plotting began on how the US could go after Saddam and finish what the Sr. Bush couldn't do - take out Saddam. Well, Jr. Bush and the Republicans were scratching their heads, and then BAM - 9/11/2001. PERFECT! It fell right into their laps. So they blamed what they could on Iraq, and when that wasn't sufficient, they claimed hard evidence of WMD's. They even sent Powell to the UN to hang his @$$ out to dry. Bush then sent in the troops, and here we are now. Saddam is in a sham of a trial, there were no WMD's found (surprise), and we have now killed more soldiers than the number of people that died on 9/11.
Does anyone else think it wasn't very productive??

Hmmmmmm......
Maybe he has just the slightest clue that THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY TRYING TO KILL US!!!!!!!!!!
The reason we went to Iraq was to get Saddam Hussein out of power because he was an OBVIOUS THREAT that had PREVIOUSLY used weapons of mass destruction on his OWN PEOPLE. The fact is, the world is by far much more safer than it was with Hussein in power. The problem with people is that they cannot look just a little bit farther into the future. All they see is the fact that we are still in the midst of chaos in Iraq and that our troops are losing their lives. But think about WWII. All those troops died for their country, and look at what they have died for. FREEDOM!!!! Pre-1940's there were dictators in Europe. But now look at Europe. DEMOCRACY. PEACE. The Middle East is the next Europe. Just wait, and it will all be worth it. And Bush didn't lie. He didn't know. And besides, Cheney said on Meet The Press that even if they didn't have them now, what makes people think that they wouldn't create them in the future? We overthrew a DICTATOR!!!!!! Gee, it's too bad all the people who know how to run the country are busy driving taxi cabs and cutting hair. Who agrees with me?

You are 100% wrong! Bush did not declare war (no actual declaration was made) on Islam. He went to war against Saddam Hussein the major prick of our day. We were looking for weapons of mass destruction and when they could not be found, then the reason for the war was to give the Iraqis freedom. I frankly do not care about Iraqis having freedom. They don't know what to do with it. However, as far as WMD goes, they did exist and were quickly moved to Syria before the war began. Bush knows this but won't act at this time because he doesn't need another war. When the time come....POW!
Incidentally, I do believe that WMD DO exist and also Saddam was trying to develop nuclear capabilities.

I think you have probably asked this same question in a multitude of ways and it's really getting old. I don't buy your premise that this is a war on Islam. There are actually Christians living in Iraq as well as Muslims.

I do believe it was the whole thing with weapons of mass destruction and plus I do believe his thoughts on this were not true. And I totally agree with that kids in the future will be wondering what the heck he was thinking!

Not a war on Islam.
How about you open that flip-top head of yours that is so willing to swallow up leftist propaganda and get the fact we are in WW III against radical islam starting in Afghanistan. Iraq is a front and a base.
What's so hard about that?

Story changes every time he makes a speech. Real reason: Karl Rove, even before the election, decided that being a "wartime" president was the quickest way to get extra powers that could then be abused.....as, I'm sure you've noticed, Bush and Co. have abused mercilessly. Crooks and liars, every one.
