A Boy's Life by Robert R Macammon (sp).
It's a great book about a kid who sees a murder, not a kiddy book. Very well written and very very memorable. I've read it a couple of times and it gets better every time.

That's a loaded question - what kind of books are you into? What age range? What constitutes a 'good read'?
These are some of my picks - check the summaries out on BN.com and see if any of them interest you:
The first book I ever read was 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton. It's still one of my favorites.
I'd recommend Stephen King's Dark Tower series - it took him a quarter of a century to write all seven books, and it was definitely worth the wait.
Memoirs of a Geisha was fantastic (Aurthur Golden) - it has a lot of nuance that the movie couldn't convey in 2 hours, ditto with 'Contact' by Carl Sagan - Jodi Picoult's 'My Sister's Keeper', 'We the Living' by Ayn Rand, Stephen White's 'Kill Me', George Shuman's '10 Seconds', James Ellroy's 'LA Confidential', 'The Treatment' by Mo Hayder, and the old standby of Margaret Mitchell's 'Gone with the Wind'.

there can be two types of answers to ur question...are u asking the definition of a guarnteed book to read like is the book worthy of reading. Or do u want a list of guarenteed good books that u can enjoy. Well since i dont understand which i guess i willl answer both. Guarnteed good read means sumthin that is guareenteed to be enjoyed and read by readers and is meant to be good. Some good novels if that is what u are asking for...and i'll tell u some of the latest ones i've read. Farenhiet 451...actaually many stories by Ray Bradbury are good. Star Rover by Jack London (believe it or not). Amazing book. I've read it about 10 times now & it just gets better. Very serious book, but well worth it.
