When should a child start tennis or tennis lessons?

If a child were to grow up to be relatively good at it, say good enough to play for a notable college, when should they start playing tennis?

I would say 4-5, the age where they could get into short tennis to develop their skills for future use.
When ready about 6-7 to start proper lessons.

There are some kids that starts taking lessons as early as 4-5 years old. At that age, the lesson is more about developing their eye-hand coordination.

But if you are trying to guide your child into a certain direction you will need to start very young. Check your area and see who or where they provide the lessons and see how young they recommend your child starts.

Make it fun, if a child feels forced into something they aren't interested in you will be waisting your time and money.

It will also help if this is something you are interested in as well. The best way to lead a child is by example.

i mean not too young because then it just seems like you're forcing them into it and lets be real, a toddler isn't gonna take the game seriously.
