If you're going to a tournament, you should already be prepared.

Well, I would just pack up on a variety of monsters, magic cards, and trap cards... Yu-Gi-Oh! is just a game of randomly pulling cards from a deck. There really isn't any freaking "heart of the cards" crap.

Try to keep your deck to no more than 50 cards, as said before make a balance of magic/trap and monster cards. Of course the monsters should be a mix of high attack and strong effect monster cards. Try to avoid putting 2 tribute monsters in your deck unless you have cards in your deck that can bypass the tributes. A few staple cards to include in almost all decks: Smashing Ground Magician of Faith Mask of Darkness Sangan Cyber Dragon Mirror Force Sakuretsu Armor Graceful Charity Night Assailant Book of Moon

the best advice I can give you is stay as close to the minimum amount of cards (40) as you can and find a theme and stick with it. The easiest way is to find the cards that best server your win condition with your theme to narrow down your cards. The theme is the best friend of a deck maker (ie. beat down, dragon, lock down, grave keepers, etc.). Most of all just have fun with it always keep in mind its just a game. If you don't enjoy your self while your building your deck. The deck will faille before you draw your first card. I hope that helps.

well to be in a tournament u have to good i am a yugioh fan also.in my opinion your deck should have a balance between monster and spell/trap cards because without monster you will lose and without spell cards u cannot get out of bad situations.u should also have a strong opening move

Make your deck all cards that can attack life points directly and put in some defensive magic cards.
