Unless you are a minor and the judges reduces it to something else or you are found innocent later a felony record stays with you forever.
Most employment backgrounds do not ask for that information and the only way they the employers can get it is to ask the person for the information or seek it though the police /sherriff department.
We have people working for us with felonies with private contractors who can not get on as full time employment with full retirement, insurance, 401-k paid hollidays, sick leave ect. because theyhave felony records, usually drug related. However at the same time there are employees working here for 5 yrs or better who have felony records. I think it depends on who wants you to have the job and who does not.
In the South if all companies were to fire everyone with a felony record, and never hire another one we would have to close the doors on most companies. So far as I know the only people rejected for employment because of felonies were white. Blacks are excepted in most all cases. A majority of black employees do have felonies behind them. It's not racism it's just plain facts I can back up.
