Ng is actually a Chinese last name - or family name / surname, more accurately.
They typically place their family (last) name first, followed by their individual (first) name.
It is pronounced like this: ing.
As an example:
If you were to read the following sentence aloud, then the same 'ing' sound would be pronounced twice in a row.
"I was asking Ng the same question."
People think that it is Vietnamese, because a lot of their family names start with Ng - the most prevalent being Nguyen - which is pronounced 'Nwin', or as close to that as you can get without practice. (It's actually a sound that is not found in English - but Nwin is as close as you are going to get with standard English phonetics).
If a Vietnamese person knows who Charles Ng is, they will quickly point out to you that Ng is a Chinese last name.
And here's why:

One of my professors was "Dr. Ng" - he prounounced his name "ing" like the ending of an English noun or verb such as "walking."

i spent a year in viet nam and i can tell you this much: the name is not pronounceable in english . you have to make the "n" sound followed by the hard "g" sound. not impossible to do, just not english as english is spoken. hope this helps.
