because if he didnt make humans there would be no one to use up all of the earths resources and polute the air and kill all of his other creations

To share eternity with someone and share his love. He gave us free will and life on earth so that we could CHOOSE to be with him. It would be kinda pointless to create a bunch of robots FORCED to love God. So here we are on earth, given a chance to experience different things and make the choice wheter we want to spend eternity with our maker or not.

God is a gardener. He made a nice garden. Then he wanted someone to love, so he made Adam. You can find this in Genesis.
The real question is: Why did God make apes?

God, as far as I know, does everything that appeals to Him - for His pleasure... After all, we were made in His image... NOTHING else was... Think about it...
