Absolutely. It will be faster than the speed of light and probably small. I think it will be more exspensive at first and then become cheaper as time goes on. I think NASA will create it.

The space shuttle was built to be everything for everyone. Launch heavy payloads, take people into space frequently, do research inside the payload bay, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't do any of these things very well. Its payload isn't great, safety for passengers is marginal, turnaround time is slow, and it is costly. Given cost constraints I think NASA will utilize specialized craft for each type of activity.
Research will be done in the ISS. The Titan rocket or similar for payloads. Human travel to the space station is the question. Probably NASA will settle on a "space plane" for human transport. The plane would be launched at high altitude from another aircraft and use a new engine type to launch it into space. Then it would return to earth similar to the current shuttle.
Could be that the new shuttle will be built by someone outside of Lockheed or Boeing. A private compant may be sending people to space on a regular basis. Getting them to the height of the space station may be challenging though. You need a lot fuel just to get space. And the ISS is a bit further than that!

Hi. Great question. I can not pretend that I am some super scientist with the right answers, but I would love to share my vision of the future. I think the next generation of space craft should be aimed at planetary exploration, specifically a try for Mars. I think it should be ion powered, at least partially. I think it should be large enough for a crew of five and have detachable landing craft to make the flight to the surface. I hope it will be jointly developed by an international consortium including NASA so we can model global cooperation. And finally, I hope crazy girls like me can get on board and be the first person to stand on the Red Planet!

I'm sure there will be. It will probably be less safe, more expensive, faster, smaller, and NASA will develop it. Then it will blow up and we look at each other and say, "The space shuttle was better. Too bad they crushed them all."

Yes, I know people are working on new space vehicles right now. I think it will resemble the SR 71 Blackbird a little bit. As a society we are always coming up with new stuff. In a few years space travel will become pretty common.
