In moderation marijuana can help with some health problems. and I HATE to admit this but you are absolutely right with your question. When you start off as a teenager, it's fun. But continual use of the drug, you begin to NEED it and then that's when all the problems start to come into play. It wasn't after I stopped smoking, that my depression was lessen and my panic attacks went away, when I was exposed to a new group of people. You could be in the middle of a saying something, and your mind would go blank. You are right. But what causes the problems is not the weed itself, it is the products people put on their weed to make it more stronger.

My mother takes tablets for her arthetisis. She has to go every month for tests to make sure the medication she is on hasn't damaged her kidneys, lungs, bladder etc. She also has to get the white cell checked also.
Most medication has many unwanted side affects and some do pose a risk of death from heart attacks and strokes.
Marijuana if taken orally rather than smoked with tobacco wouldn't cause Cancer. Some of the other side affects only happen as a result of misuse same as Alcohol - depression, liver and kidney problems.
It will be legal when the governments find a way to tax it.

If you care to research, I believe you'll find that some people with glaucoma have reported that marijuana lessens the pressure on their eyes. I not a sufferer so I really don't know. I also believe that in some states, you can receive marijuana by prescription.
There are lots of things that can be beneficial when taken in proper amounts. Morphine is a great painkiller and often prescriped but is highly addictive plus it kills you if taken in excess. Most presciption narcotics are medically useful but deadly if dosage is exceeded. The same is true for most prescription drugs. If there is a proper medical use for TCH then it should be available for doctors to prescribe just like so many other drugs.

I think if its used for certain types of health problems. No I don't think it should be used for all. Being in the medical field, I have had some clients who were terminal and in more pain than most of us could comprehend and the strongest medications available weren't helping so they turned to Marijuana and it helped them with pain. I feel that in this case to someone who is already dying that its OK.
Some will say it should be legal for all.
I don't agree with that at all.
Its a good question that you asked
Knowing that it is a worry for others :)

What you say is true, but it has been shown to be helpful in the treatment of nausea, especially related to cancer and chemotherapy. It has also proven helpful for some anxiety conditions. While I've not seen it reported in the medical literature, I know people who have used it successfully for treatment of some types of hematological (blood cell count) problems.
All that being said, the risk to society is too great to legalize it because of its high potential for abuse and its high potential to serve as a gateway drug for other more dangerous drugs of abuse.

I believe the reason behind using marijuana for cancer patients is because it relieves the pain of patients that are DYING. (at least the ones using it legally)
If you are dying do you really think it matters if you catch a few other problems?
However, I may be wrong.

Aids and cancer patients use marijuana as a pain reducer as well as to help their appitite. They are terminally ill patients and won't be using marijuana long enough to get the harmful effects.

Foxgloves can be deadly, but in very small amounts, they can be used for health reasons. It has a lot to do with how much of a substance you are using.
