I can't decide between Kenshin, Sano, and Hiko

Hiko was Kenshin's master, right? If so then he was definitely my favorite. Sarcastic, calm, independent... a true badass. Kenshin and some of the others annoyed me.
Second place goes to the police official, the one who always was trying to finish his duel with Kenshin. Sorry, it's been several years since I've watched, forgotten a lot of the names.
