I am in nursing school and work on the weekends.Thats pretty hard for me as it is. Me and my husband have four kids and they stay busy with school sports and other activites. He was the one that really was pushing for me to go to school. I told him that if I went to school he would have to really help out a lot around the house and with the kids. He agreed. but now that I am in school he wont help and I am finding it hard to find time to study enough time I need to.When I ask him to help he gets all angry and says that he has to do everything. But the only thing he does is mow the yard once a week. Got any tips to make him help out more. The biggest thing would be home work. 4 kids having home work takes along time. Anything around the house would help. The kids do help around the house but they are young so you have to right on top of them to make sure things get done right.

This is something in the not so far off future for my wife and me (2 daughters) and I understand I'll have to do more as far as things like what you have described (homework, laundry, yard work, etc.) I work anywhere from 6 to 14 hours a day at a job
that is 6AM until........... so I'm not really looking forward to that part. What I will think about first is that my wife has a need to satisfy her longing for a career in nursing. Also when the courses are complete and she gets that first job there will be extra income coming into the house that will make things so much easier. So I guess remind him of the "coming soon" extra income and I know with 4 kids you guys could use it. Good luck.

I feel your pain, I went through nursing schol and I know it is very difficult to have a "life" when you are trying to pass those courses. a copule of suggestions- 1). Sit down and talk with your husband again in a non-confrontational manner, tell him that this is temporary, and you need his help just to make it through the rest of school, and remind him that it will be beneficial to the family in the end. 2). Can you afford to have someone come into the house and help clean once a week. 3) Have the older kids help the younger kids with the homework, if this is not possible, maybe a neighbor or relative can come over and help you out.
I hope this helps!!!

1.Hire a babysitter one night a week. Go to the library to get your homework completed. If you have a friend in class to go with you so much the better. Come home late enough that the kids are in bed asleep. Then have some quality time with hubby. Keep him happy with the added expenses.
2. Hire a maid to come in one day per week to do the mopping dusting, ajax the bathroom, etc.....THE HEAVY WORK.
Trust me....no matter how many times the Hubby says he will help out more...he NEVER, NEVER, EVER WILL!!
The last thing a husband wants to do after a hards day work is go home to more work.......it's just the way it is.
Good Luck and stay in school.

You have got to make his understand that you need his help for the sake of the kids. Make it about the kids because he might be resenting you for going to school becoming more independent and not having enough time for him. You need to address this now otherwise, you will be working two full-time jobs once you finish nursing school. Assess the situation maybe you have 5 kids. If he doesn't want to help, ask him to pay for an evening sitter who can also help w/ homework.

Sounds like you went back to school to soon. May you should put it on the back burner, as it appears that there will be no help forth coming. It is impossible to carry that load and the easiest one to unload is your school. If your hubby complains that you won't get your degree. tell him he made the choice not to help so you made the choice not put him in that position.

Have him make a list of things that he does to help the family. You make your list. Compare and Contrast.
Or
Make him see what you do day in an day out.
Or
Make him do it period. Have the kids go to dad when its time for homework. Be the boss.

Ugh!!! I feel your pain. My husband is the same way! I don't know. Hire someone to come help out some. Maybe he'll step up if you have to pay someone to help. Good luck to you in your education!

You should tell your husband that if he doesn't pull his weight around the house. If he doesn't tell him that you will quit school.
