the term bless you came from old mythology. we say bless you because people thought that if you sneezed your soul came out for a split second. people thought this was the perfect chance for a demon to consume your soul. by saying bless you, we get rid of the demon. i dont think your soul comes out when you fart however so thats why. plus, people think of farts as something rude and disgusting to do. these people are ignorant. WE ALL FART!!!!

LOL, halfpint, if those are demons coming out when we sneeze then what the heck are we releasing when we fart? ;)
To answer the question: Because we feel sorry for the sneezer, they could be getting sick. (that's my modern day version of why!). Farts are just funny; stinky, but funny. And we don't feel sorry for someone when they fart. Embarrassed for them, maybe.

Because when we sneeze, our heart skips a beat and sneezing used to be a sign of terminal illnesses, so people would say "god bless you".
As far as I know, farting does not mess with your heart, nor has it ever been a sign of a terminal disease.
That's my answer and I am sticking to it.

Some cultures believed that when you sneezed, you were releasing your soul so they wanted it to be "blessed" before it travelled on, so they would say "God Bless You." I never heard of anyone farting out their soul...lol

If I did that with Professor John C. Plott from Oklahoma, my jaw would be dislocated. My lover had other ideas about what to say when she took an evening class to him at his flat. I once visited her at the break. We were in the living room near the door to a hallway. Dr. Plott was near us talking to someone. Suddenly, it sounded as if he had a siren in the seat of his pants, as he ran down the hall and through the kitchen. On the back porch, he sounded like a big gun and nearly blew out his windows. When class resumed, he ran across the hall several times and sounded like thunder. The windows shook. He was a champion.

Easy! We only say Bless you when somebody coughs because when people first started saying it, there was a disease going around when coughing meant you might die. People said "God Bless You" because coughing was a sure sign of death.. not farting. I guess that little tradition stook

Because of some ancient stuff about if you sneeze it is your body's attempt to get rid of invading demons, way before inoculations.
