It is an insult to my sense of honesty and common sense that over 1000 Commerce Dept employees just walked off with a laptop containing millions of records of American citizens. Who is watching the store. Do they have no system of inventory control? Has anyone gone to jail for theft?

The key word in your question is GOVERNMENT. That pretty much explains it.

These were not "employees" in the usual sense but people who hired for a short time to do the national census. When they quit or were fired, they simply kept the laptops supplied to them to record the info for the census. This did not happen in a single place but nationally, a few people here and there added up to 1,100. It is pretty bad though.

They are all members of the Republican party, I mean what's a lap top theft when you have a president who ignores the Constitution and misleads the nation into war? It's all about degrees of badness.

The truth is that the lap tops were stolen from their unattended vehicles or at other places. Simmer down now! Most of them have been recovered.
