I have just polished some brass canisters. They tarnish very easily. Is there something someone can recommend that I coat these canisters with the keep them from tarnishing? I use brasso to clean them and they are really shiny now. I want to keep them looking that way.

I would recommend one of two possibilities.

Automotive wax might do the trick, I have heard that it will work for a while.

The other trick would be a spray or brush on laquer or protective finish. It will not be quite as burnished as a freshly polished surface, but it should last longer.

Brass polish or pre-polish infused mits or cloths. My mom had these mitts for her chandelier and she just dusted and rubbed it with them. Worked perfect. Check your local home store, Bed, Bath type store or Lowes, etc.

those factors tarnish simply by moisture from the air. you are able to spray a clean end on them and it will shelter the steel from oxidizing. you would be able to additionally use hair spray in a pinch. something that seals them from the ambience will artwork.

Use a high quality spray lacquer. A high gloss type would be most pleasing. It can be had at any GOOD paint store.
