No any self harming behavior is not normal, nor is it healthy. The reasons are many but mostly it is a learned distraction from all anxiety producing elements in the person`s life, which then becomes a habitual reaction similar to an addiction or pavlov`s dog response. See a good therapist.

MOST people do not. Some people do because they can't find a healthier outlet for their emotions. It's often a sign of depression. It's most definitely NOT normal, and if you cut yourself you should consider getting help.
Someone once asked me why everyone who found out he cut himself got so concerned about it. I asked him to imagine sometime in the future that he had children (whether he planned to or not. Just put yourself in the position in your mind). Would he want his children to cut themselves or harm themselves in any way? Would you? Or would you rather they found other outlets for their emotions?

THe human body was not made to be hurt by its owner. there are other ways of sharing feelings, relieving sadness and expressing pain. You only; hurst yourself more by cutting. Find someone you care and trust... adn share with them.. talk to them.. form a real friendship with them. THat is a hundred time sbetter than hurting yoruself..

No it's not normal to cut yourself! You do it to get attention. It's the shock factor. Most people deal with their problems. People who cut are not dealing with their problems they are just creating a bigger problem. What are you going to tell your kids and grand kids when they ask you how you got those scars. Do you want them doing the same thing because if mom did it, it must be alright? Get help before it's to late and you scar yourself for life.
