who remembers the great snow storm of 1979?

i don't remember the snow fall but i remember playing in it. you couldn't get out the door and it was up on a porch. it covered your cars.

I remember that storm. I was about 8 or 9 at the time. That was some storm, we made tunnels in our driveway, I remember being surprised to run into the tires of my Aunt's car, it was like we'd forgotten there were even cars in the driveway...it was a whole nother world there.

I remember my father insisting that he still had to go to work and he walked! through those snow drifts and ended up having to turn around and come home because the factory was closed...well duh Dad!

We lost power for a few days too...brrr.. It was one grand holiday for us kids, no picnic for our parents though! ;-)

The best was when our father finally relaxed and came outside with my brother and me and we made an igloo. It lasted for weeks!

Wasn't it like the blizzard of '79? We were on the east coast - Massachusetts and snowed in for like a solid month. No food at the stores, trucks brought it in as far as the could go - 3 to 5 miles from our house; and no heat!!
