No way! The War in Iraq is more violent and deadlier than ever. The War in Afghanistan just started and the Tali bans are recapturing the southern portion of Afghanistan.

I know we're going to win," Bush told reporters at the White House. "Our troops need to hear not only are they supported, but that we have got a strategy that will win."

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Thursday indicated fewer than half of Americans believe the United States will win the Iraq war, and 55 percent of those surveyed said it should speed up withdrawal plans.

Look at the history of man and war. Its not about out side influence or religion. Its about its people and what they want. Iraq I believe will be a lost cause for the U.S as Was Veit Nam. Afghanistan was lost to the Russians in the 80's Japan was a loss for the Chines during both the 1st and 2 world wars Japan lost to the U.S. and its Allies for 2 reasons 1st the numbers of military men for the allies was just to great for the Japanese and the U. S. ended the War and degraded the Japanese power with the H bomb killing over 300,000 people in the first bomb drop. Germany tryed to take Great Britten in WW ll and lost. People are the country's strength. So no matter how big or small a country is the power in that coutry will always be in its people.

OK well Bush has set up a democracy in Iraq right? Well yes he has if you were wondering. Anyways, there is no way that democracy can work in Iraq since they are Muslim. You see when the Puritans and Pilgrims and all them came over from Britain they settled around the east coast and all, and founded this country on religious freedom, yes? Well once again yes. But those religions were Christian ones such as Baptist, Methodist etc. Our democracy is based upon that but Islam is always looking for total domination. So even though this demracy is in Iraq they eventually will want to either overthrow it like in Thailand or just get rid of it and go back to their old ways. So personally, and I'm not saying this is correct just my opinion, personally I don't think that the situation will become less tense. Well just another quick example, America "accepts" gays, I mean we don't kill them but we don't all like them. But in Iraq Islam is against gays and kills them. So just a quick example.

The Vietnam conflict grew to become the way it did whilst the VC found out that there replaced right into a divide between the human beings and commenced waiting us out. After the failure of the Tet offensive, the VC have been pondering a renounce, yet hung on mutually as watching the US inner strife over the conflict. ultimately, investment replaced into pulled on our part and investment better on their part (China). And as we began to pull back and then out, the VC slaughtered something of south Vietnam. it extremely is thrilling to realize, hind sight is 20/20, that if we did no longer combat between ourselves, the VC could have cashed it in and we could desire to have had the aptitude to stabilized Vietnam. today, we are plagued by comparable matters, regionally. Too a lot of human beings regionally attempting to declare a similar component. i desire to God we don't repeat that mistake back. because it stands, our enemy would not have the backing of a China, yet God forbid that the enemy sees a inner breakdown between the human beings's help for the troops and action we've taken and then does get a backing from say an Iran or comparable. enable's no longer turn it into Vietnam. all of us be attentive to extra constructive.

Yes, but it would require drafting about 1.5 million men and cost a trillion dollars to properly load up. We would have to take away a degree of personal liberty to stem all the protesting that would occur so we wouldn't have to have any of that troublesome 60s nonsense going on. We woul dhave to censor our news and our internet so we could manipulate what Americans think. We would have to have them believe that there was no choice and it is a noble cause, and that the rest of the reasonable world is 100% behind us, helping us by sharing the burdens of man power and cost. People here at home wopuld have to have meatless and wheatless days, bonds woould be sold, we would have newsreels before movies again. people would have to ration gas and food. Every home would display the flag. Yes, we would have to be blindly loyal...in short, I am totally against these sorts of action, and would be living in Canada long before it got that far. I mean for crying out loud, every teen in America and every adult who grew up watching "The Princess Bride" knows never to get involved in a land war in Asia.

History has proven over and over again that a war against religious fanatics can not be won by conventional means. That is exactly what the US is trying to do.

You think the insurgents are concerned about the Geneva Convention?

"Can be won?" - yes

"Will be won?" - probably not, massively inept leadership has blown most of our chances and USA is working toward an exit. Already heard one general use the word "Iraqization" (reference to "Vietnamization" from 30-35 years ago to see what that gets you.

This is our generation's Vietnam. We will never totally win. This war is not black and white, and it is not like previous wars with armies against armies. Its armies against guerrillas.

Yes it can be won and we are winning it. There haven't been any more attacks since 9/11 on US soil. That's proof enough for me.
