Im re-doing a small vanity floor that was carpeted AND pee-ed on by a cat. I've already pulled up the carpet & foam mat, but... the flooring (particle board) underneath still reaks of the pee. Please tell me a GUARANTEED way ( and preferably cheap, although beggers cant be choosers) to get this smell out without tearing out the floor. I've tried Bleach, vinager, fabreeze and I'm losing hope. PLEASE HELP ME. The smell is killing me !!!!

I've tried already removed the carpet, and I have already tried CLOROX, VINAGER and i moved the cat's litter box to the basement. I've fought this for about a year that's why I decided to remove the carpet all together.
By the way, I do adore my cat!!!

A sure way is to go to your local paint store and buy a product (Paint) called "KILZ". and paint the sub floor where stained. It will seal the area and kill any odour in the wood. This product I have used for years in Insurance claims restoration for this type of damage as well as fire, smoke and water damage to commercial and residential properties. It works every time. Then you can install your new flooring.

You are going to have to sand down or most likely, replace that part of the floor...sorry.
Particle board is especially pourace and it just soaked up the pee and the smell.
Good luck.
By the way, the stuff specially formulated for that won't work on wood either...it soaks in.

Rug Doctor Odor Remover may help. I know it works good on fabrics, upholstery, and carpets. Wherever carpet cleaners are rented, they sell supplies by any brand. They should have odor remover. It can be used with the machine or alone.

IF you can get the smell out, you'll need to seal the floor afterwards. And seal it twice. Check at Home Depot for a sealer, then get rid of the cat.

If you go to a pet store you'll find that they make chemicals specifically for getting out the smell of cat urine. Everyday cleaning chemicals around the house won't (unfortunately) do the trick.

We have three cats that sometimes go in the house. I find that using Resolve works well. You want to let it soak into the particle board or just replace that section that is stained.

well you could spray the whole carpet with air fresheners. And plug in those air fresheners things. And maybe light up scented candles. It would probably Ware of in a couple of days or weeks.
Good Luck!!
