Fullmetal Alchemist. Alot of episodes were sad, including the very last one w/ Ed's self sacrifice. And I even shed a tear during the movie! What can I say, I'm a sap for the Elrics!

Tenchi Muyo...where Ryoko dies...
Gunslinger Girls...one of the girls is in the hospital...the other girls are watching the meteor shower on the hill....her control shows up while all this is going on...and starts to tell her 'The' bedtime story...
The end of Knockin on Heavens Door....
In Trigun..The Preacher gets misty eyed and then...
Please save my earth

Trust and Betrayal

last but not least...
Saikano...this anime like Wolf's Rain, Grave of the fireflies, Here and There-Now and Then...was unforgiving right from the start.
And there were parts in Saikano that were just plain wrong...
this series twisted my guts in a knot...over and over...and the ending was just unbearable...
If you want a reason to hate war and the destruction it brings...to both sides...and how there are no winners...just survivors...Saikano is the anime to watch...head shaking anime at its saddest...kleenex alert! kleenex alert! kleenex alert!

Now and Then, Here and There. They had war where the soldiers were kids. one of the characters Sala was raped by the enemy soldiers. etc. this has been the most depressing anime that I have ever seen.
