Make sure you are using enough lubrication. KY jelly is a must until you start producing more natural lubrication. Should not be painful at this stage.

It could be a number of things. Are you relaxed enough? Sometimes you need additional lubrication in addition to your own as sometimes dryness will cause pain. If he was the first guy you ever had sex with, maybe he hasnt penetrated you fully enough to break the hymen and therefore causing pain. Its hard for me to say on this end. Please make an appointment with your GYN if this continues.
