The traps (or gel which also contains bait) are the best, but if you really have a lot the thing do do first is to do what an exterminator would call a " roach intensive". You can do it yourself though for a small fraction of what an exterminator would charge. You need to spray the affected areas and adjacent areas paying special attention to cracks and crevasses and pipes etc going into the wall or floor. Also in cabinets etc. Then set off an aerosol "bomb" --or more then one if there are more rooms involved.Read the label on all the products you use and follow the instructions. After the "bombing" you need to wash all the dishes and wipe down counters etc. After-wards start using the baits and keep using them. If there are eggs cases around, and there almost certainly are, you will have a re infestation in a few days or weeks . Hopefully the bait will take care of those. Don't delay doing the"intensive" the sooner you hit them with everything you've got the better the chances of not having the population get huge. They multiply incredibly fast. Good luck and god bless you. PS contray to common opinion you can buy almost anything the exterminator would use chemical -wise

I would strongly suggest that if you live in an apartment you have your landlord bomb the whole building. If you have your own house then have it professionally done. Them problem with roaches and sprays/ traps/ and powder is that it may not get to the whole colony. There could be several different colonies so you can kill one with those other products but you really need to get the entire building.
Hope this helps - Good Luck

Get some professional guys in to do it!! Most household bug killers are not effective anymore because they cockroaches build up an immunity to it!! I had this problem and it was damn expensive to keep being the stuff from the shops, pest control people are usually the best!!

Try and find where they are coming from. They like warm places, near boilers etc.
Try a powder first, otherwise contact your local council (Environmental Health(Pest Control)) they may charge for the service but they have the knowledge.

I personally would go for the traps. Spray and powder will contaminate your air, and could be harmful to your children, pets, and yourself.

The first step is keep a clean house. None of the products will work if you don't.
