Changing your name is up to you, but assuming you do want to do this then take your marriage certificate to the relevant authorities and it will be done for free.
At your bank/credit card providers/service providers et cetera tell them that your name has changed and they will sed you out new credit cards in your new name.
If you have bad credit and your husband does not I would advise you NOT to merge your accounts at this stage as you (both) may well get problems if there's one bad credit person in a joint account. If his credit is clean he should remain separate from you in accounts until yours is clean too, and at that point you can merge them for convenience. However keep a savings account in your name only for saving, but also just in case you receive some sort of large monies (eg an inheritance) because if that happens and it all goes into a joint account, if you have any borrowing there (eg a mortgage) it may go into that without the option (you might want to do that anyway, but at least this way you have a choice).

Calm down and take things slow. After all you two have all the time in the world now to figure out things. We are all humans so we are entitled to forget and make mistakes as many have done before you and many will do in the years to come. You need to notify DMV and credit companies of name change and yes there will be a downsize to your husbands credit due to yours, but its n. ot the end of the world, add him to yours and vice versa. Congrats on your marriage and good luck

Don't forget to change your name with the Social Security office. This will help when you file your taxes. When I married, I kept my credit cards (just gave them my new name), and also applied for a joint credit card with my husband. I think your husband's credit rating will only be affected if you default on your future loans.

Merge or get on his insurance. Change name on SSN. Change last name at work. Depending on how bad the credit is, it can affect him and you.

Be sure to take your BC pills. Don't have any children until your marriage is 4 years old or more. Have children only if you really want them. Don't succumb to pressures from your friends, "well, you guys are married, when are you going to have a baaaabbbbbyyyyyyy?"

Look at the section title. The next thing to do is get divorced. You might as well speed up the process.

Get yourself added to his auto insurance. It sounds like you have gotten your new social security card and drivers license. Get added to all the vehicles you have. Have fun.
