well, they were poking fun AT stereotypes...pretty much the whole point.

heh i like the part in the beginning when steve martin got a pic of the woman he Thought he was chatting with, and the pretty white lady was in front, and queen latifah was getting arrested by a cop in the background. and she's like, i wasn't lying, i was in the picture!

I think the characters over emphasized what the public stereotypes certain races as, but in a comical way. Especially Betty Whites character. She played a typical ignorant racist white woman of her generation. If you don't take that kind of thing seriously it is a funny movie.
