Lets leave religion out of the argument (wherein most will say that killing for convenience (which is really what abortion is) is a sin) and look at the picture logically.
Quite a while back, a high school girl got pregnant and gave birth to a little girl - this despite the cries of those who said that she was too young and could not give the child a good home. She went to work and still managed to graduate only one year late. She also had a son in part because she felt that she should marry the poor excuse for a father. Bad decision. After several years of being physically and emotionally abused, she went home and divorced him.
My wife and I adopted those two "unwanted" children, one of whom had ADHD and had serious issues growing up. Today he is a youth and family minister specializing in (what else) disadvantaged youth. He has a wonderful wife and three lovely little daughters.
The little girl grew up to be the mom of three active little boys, directed a daycare facility and now directs children's ministries at her church.
Interesting how things work out. You see, I am also adopted and eternally thankful for the couple who took on a teenage troublemaker boy, a questionable teenage girl, and two 5 year old boys one of whom had mental illness. The other of whom is myself.
Adoption works.
Sometimes, I think that I would have liked to have known my "real" parents but then I realize that biology makes a father or a mother but hard work and living throught difficult choices make a mom and a dad. I have always felt loved and cared for and my two say the same. Maybe more than the natural parents would or could have.
Yes, I'm pro-life - not abstractly but rather by example!

Two points here:
The "unwanted children in the adoption/foster care systems" are older, babies almost always get adopted, which makes it a logical choice.
Two: They view abortion as murder, so adoption seems like a much better choice. Why murder when you could just give the child a better home.
I vote adoption myself! I think too many people view abortion as an easy out. It's sad.

What if you aborted a baby, for whatever reason, and that baby might have done wonderful things beyond your imagination, but you never gave it a chance. I see what you're saying, but what gives anyone the right to make the decision to take a life. I don't care what people say, that baby has a heartbeat and a brain. It's murder. If the mother doesn't want it anyway, then what does she care. At least give the baby a chance with someone who wants a baby.

Have you ever tried to adopt a child? I am guessing that because you are asking such a ridiculous question you have never tried to adopt a child.
The red tape, and hoops put in to place for those interested in adopting that are supposed to screen out all of the bad parents are keeping the good parents from adopting. Social Services, Child Protective Services, and any arm of the government that deals with children and how they are adopted and placed in foster homes SUCK!!!!
Did you know, that by the time a person interested in adopting a child, pays all of the lawyer fees (yes you will need a lawyer to help you decipher all of the legal technical terms and documents associated with this process), court costs and any other fees associated with changing the child's name to your last name and having the child recognized as your child legally, doctor's visits, and visits with family counselors will cost in excess of 50,000 dollars. The adoption process lasts on average a minimum of 3 years but can take longer according to state and local laws in your area..
Is there any wonder why there are so many children left in the adoption system? Look, I know safeguards are needed to protect the children, but not to the point that the cost is so out of reach. I can introduce you to people, who can not have children by the traditional method (one woman can not have children, ironically, because of the damage done to her uterus in this wonderfully "safe" procedure known as abortion that was being performed by a licensed doctor who is supposed to know how to do this was so great it had to be removed or she would have died during the procedure) whose hearts are literally breaking in two because they would love to adopt but can't because the process is so cost prohibitive.
Before you start attacking me like some of the other pro choice supporters have, you need to know some back ground on me. Not only do my wife and I have a beautiful daughter born to us, we have finally after a very long frustrating 3 and a half years adopted a pair of siblings. A brother and a sister, ages 6 and 11 years old. We started this process when they were 3 and 8. We had to place a second mortgage on our house to afford the fees associated with this adoption. Most people tell us we breezed through fairly easily compared to their adoptions.. The wheels turn very slowly.
It is vitally important to our Nation and its security, if we are to continue as a society, that we end all abortions except for when their is rape or incest or the mother's life is in jeopardy. Since Roe versus Wade, in excess of 30,000,000 babies have been aborted, and continues at a rate in excess of 5,000 babies per day. These numbers I just quoted to you come out around 1995. I am sure they are much larger now. We need to reform and reorganize the adoption process and the agencies involved with adopting out children. There must be a better way. We as a society need to have more compassion for the unborn. After all, they do have a heart beat 3 weeks after conception. I have never known anything that had a heartbeat that was not also alive.
In closing, adoption is much more preferable to abortion. If for no other reason than to protect life, because life is sacred. I would like to think Americans are better than Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Saddam Hussein. The very same arguments used to defend the right of abortion, are the very same arguments, just worded differently to fit our times and convenience, to justify these historical figures position on why they killed so many people during their time in power.
Just something for you and all of the others to think about.

Because BABIES will be adopted very quickly. The children in the American adoption/foster system that go unadopted are either older or have some sort of physical/mental problem. And by the way, if it were YOUR choice, would you rather be killed or live in a foster home.
BTW- I'm pro-choice.

I think they are talking some hypocritical rhetoric. It's like the mouse that said it's a good idea to hang a bell on the cat's neck. But then no mouse had the courage to step up and say "I'll do it."
Pro-lifers for the most part are a bunch of hypocrites and cry-babies. They whine about dead fetuses, but then they turn their backs and keep silent at the treatment of prisoners, nursing home patients, and the mentally ill.
Pro life? How about Pro Lies? What about the extremists who bomb abortion clinics and assassinate doctors and nurses? Why don't the pro life people do anything about the widespread use of tobacco and drugs? What about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? There's a lot of life wasted there, but you don't hear them saying anything. Bunch of twisted hypocrites if you ask me.

Because that's better than killing them.
I am a product of the adoption/foster care system. I myself would prefer that a kid at least had a home there instead of being killed before birth.

Can we look at it this way? They may never have a good home.
They will one day grow up and make their own decisions.Hopefully have a wonderful home.Let's give them a chance. We could have been one of those unwanted.
