Thousands of civilians are being killed, thousands of dead or injured babies and children, displaced people, and there is not one drop of blood on the news, though at our hands we shed so much of it.
Did our government learn it's lesson with Vietnam? Don't show the blood and guts or else the people start to turn against you?
Aren't you the least bit curious what horrors are unfolding?
and No one talks on the news like say, Ralph Nader,--and the thousands of other intellectual voices of reason against the administration, and about corporate corruption.
Everything on the news is very safe.
As a matter of fact, you don't even hear at all about how many civilians are being killed, it's like they are a nothing.
The only ones that are allowed to speak out on TV are obvious incredulous crack-pots.-- So in turn they can be shot down by Status Quo dick or Harry., and made to look ridiculous so the public will think anything controversial comes from crazy people.

They only report dead USA soldiers, when it first started, soldiers names were listed. We just see numbers now, which is rising daily, don't they count any more as individuals? I know a lot of guys over there, friends, relatives, my children's friends, local people.
I did see a brief flash on the television in the last couple weeks. I'm pretty sure it said at least 160,000 civilian dead (the ones they've found). Many more civilians have died since then. I see that every day on the news.
What else they no longer report, and there is no mention of this at all anymore. How many of our allies' troops have been killed? They are like nothing also. And the injured troops and civilians? Nothing, swept under the carpet like so much dust. It breaks my heart. The ones who do survive, will most likely not recieve the benefits due them. Ask other veterans, they'll tell you. The cost the scope of this will not fully be known for many many years to come.

Perhaps because if they included news that really threatened to change the status quo of corporate power and influence (which includes the corporate influence of the few media corporations that own most major news-media outlets), they might risk losing that power and influence? Just a thought.
There are sources of independent news. Especially online. There's the various indymedia sites, democracynow.org (which is broadcast on many radio and some TV stations), alternet.org, commondreams.org, counterpunch.org, and though it's not a news site you can find interesting things on nader.org as well. You might also be interested in www.fair.org, which is the website of "Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting" which monitors and criticizes media bias and censorship.
The independent media get things wrong often enough as well; the other problem is that people don't seem to know how to take things with a grain of salt anymore.

Why do people always want to see blood? The FCC has guidelines about what they can and cant show. If you start showing blood and gore, you dehumanize and de-sensitize people to violence. (the peoblem in the Middle East)
The news reports the facts behind the violence, we dont need to turn the nightly news into "Faces of Death." Have some values why dontcha!

The only news that approaches objectivity is BBC. It should be available on your PBS station.
A fellow I know at NBC says quite openly that only a total idiot gets their information from television news shows. Keep in mind that besides being tightly controlled, television "news" is just another form of entertainment used to jack up ratings so commercials can be sold at a higher rate.

Yes our news is sanitized.
We NEVER see the beheadings.
We are not seeing the towers falling often enough and reminded of people jumping to their deaths. I could go on.
