I mean it is not any harm to the country. The oil Hugo Chavez is giving away is for the poor people in the United States to warm their houses up. Why is it that you don't want to accept the oil? Do you think you are the rich and powerful nation who helps other nations but you feel humiliated if somebody tries to help you? I know he talked trash about President Bush but hey the help is still there. This reminds me of a man I used to know who claimed that Mexico didn't have an army and the "non-existing" Mexican Army was then helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

I think people are thinking it is a matter of principle. Taking the oil would mean agreeing with the man that our president is Satan. To many, that is not the "kosher" thing to do.

If I qualified for it, I don't think I would take it. Why? Because I don't know what it would take, and what is attached. What has to be done to get it? I just think it sounds too good to be true, without having to do something for it.

I think he is doing it to slap GW in the face. He is basically prooving to him that just because he is the President of the United States doesn't mean he is the all helpful, and that he can't even handle poverty in his own country. If the Americans took the offer, I guarantee it would be thrown into the US's face some time later.

The US citizens' cannot make the decision to accept the free oil. The government makes that decision and what the government does is sometimes not what the citizens want. I'm sure your country is the same way? By the way, I have not read where Chavez offered free oil, but then, I do not know everything. One last point, Venezuela's oil is called dirty oil and by that it means that your oil requires alot of processing and cleaning. That is why China does not buy boat loads of it because they don't have the means to clean it up. Mark my word, the US will become independent of outside oil because we are moving towards battery operated cars, wind power, water power and solar power. I wouldn't doubt that we really speed up this process since we are constantly being threatened to withhold oil or raise the prices to $200 a barrel, as your president just stated at the UN.

I'll accept Venezuela's oil. I couldn't care less about their politics, but Bush seems to think they are evil and won't let us import their oil. Please do not think that Bush's opinion on anything reflects the American population's opinion. I'm also pretty sure that Mexico has an army, but I don't think they helped with Katrina unless the victims went to Mexico. I do know many of the workers with civilian contract jobs are Mexican immigrants, but not the army.

Do you want to accept something from someone who is buddy-buddy with your sworn enemy? Not me. I do not want anything from someone who insults my President. Hugo is no better then Bush because who gets the oil money? Not the poor people of his country. If the oil momey was helping his people why are so many of the illegals in this country from Venezuela.

Why should they? I mean "warming their houses up" is not enough to compensate for everything else. In my humble opinion, it is obvious that this guy is not doing this out of his good heart, but trying to play politics using the poor peoples' needs. And sometimes it's considered better not to play such a person's game, even if that means a less warm house.

This is not without strings. Besides he's not counting on doing it long. He has prayed to God to bring down America. Not just our government, but the whole country. He is counting on this to be done soon.
