Ok, I'm 16 and for some reason i don't like wearing the gloss. I sorta wanna go into some type of red lipstick because i love how it looks on other people. I haven't tried it myself...i'm Asian.. do you think it'd be too mature for me or something? I mean, everyone wears gloss nowadays but i love the sophistication of lipstick. Or do you have any suggestions?

I already wear mascara, eyeliner (sometimes), powder and sometimes eyeshadow.

I've never liked gloss myself. It looks cheep and feels icky. I wore lipstick occasionally when I was 16, and as long as your parents are ok with it and you don't wear it too thick or go crazy with the lip liner, then there's nothing wrong with it. Bright red lipstick looks cheep on most people, but I don't know your skin tone or anything like that, so I can't say if it'll look good on you or not. I have two suggestions for you: 1. Try just using lip liner first -- use one shade lighter (not darker) than your lipstick color to set the parameters of your lips. Then fill in the inside of the line lightly with the lip liner. You can wear it just like that for a more subtle look, or you can put the lipstick over it, and your lipstick will stay on longer and more evenly. Keep in mind that the lipliner will change the tint of your lipstick a little, so that also gives you more play with the color of your lipstick just by changing the color of the lip liner. 2. Go to a makeup counter at a department store. They'll give you a free consultation and try the color they think will look best on you. Plus, they'll give you an honest, professional opinion on what shade of red (if any) will look good on you. If you don't like what they do, try a different department store or a different brand's counter.

I wore red lipstick when I was in high school. Depending on your skin tone, you may not want to go with a RED RED, but perhaps with a plum/red or brown/red. My favorite type is Colorstay, as it stays for around 4-8 hours without coming off!

Do NOT wear this if you plan on wearing a lot of other makeup. That will make you look like you're trying too hard. If you wear red lipstick, go with only a little mascara, little-to-no eyeliner, and a very natural eyeshadow.

I'm 15 and like to use lipstick sometimes. I don't think it really matters what type of makeup you are using as long as you dont use very much & make it look trashy. Personally when I do use lipstck I use a pinkish color and then put a clear gloss over it. If you want to try a red tint then I would go to one of those makeup counters in the mall and get them to help find a shade that would match your skin tone and isn't too bright. Also if your using red lipstick then don't use much eye makeup, it would look really bad together.

Listen, i am 17, and i remember doing a LOT of experiment with make-up. I am Asian, too, and i know for a fact that the lighter Asians can get away with the "red red". Try a shimmery maroon or something with a darker touch. I know that lancome and clinque have lipsticks that are full of moisture, therefore not making your lips feel try like some other lipsticks. And dont wry too much, what ever lipstick u choose, they will surely suit your gorgeous lips!

As opposed to the red, I'd go with a deeper, mulberry shade. If you do wear the lipstick, don't use gloss over it at your age - it'll just make you look like a clown. But if you use a relatively minimal amount of eye makeup & just a tasteful lipstick, I'd say that it would look really nice. But just focus on one area or the other - eyes *or* mouth - not both.

I checked out your picture, and you're adorable just the way you are. But I know playing with makeup is lots of fun -- try out some lipstick if you like. Pay attention to which shades look good on your eyes. Your dark hair could definitely support a dark shade of lipstick.

I'm 21 and have just started moving into darker shades. If you're not feeling bold enough to go for the fire engine red just yet, try mauve tones. That "too young" stuff is silly. Colors are for everyone, every age.

Above all, don't spend a ton of money on lipstick, especially if you're just trying it for fun. I love Covergirl, Revlon, Avon, Almay... There's just no reason to pay those ridiculous big-department-store prices.

And if you hate it, wash it off! That's the beauty of makeup.

Good luck.

It depends on your coloring, you have to have enough stong coloring to stand up to it. For example since you are Asian you probably have almost black hair, that is a good start. I don't think it depends as much on your age, I'm 36 and still can't wear red, it overwhelms my face. However be prepared for more attention from leering older men if you go out in public like that, if you are just around people your own age it will be less of an issue.

I agree with keeping the rest of the makeup to a minimum, just black mascara to keep your eyes strong and the rest pretty neutral.

I would go with the pink you are wearing or maybe try other shades of pink or plum. The red would look to harsh with your full lips and dark hair. This answer was given by my granddaughter who is beautiful and doesn't wear any makeup except pink gloss. PS you are beautiful just natural too

do not overdo it on the pink lipstick, per chance a paler pink or a efficient pink. pink is positive yet per chance more advantageous acceptable for a suitable experience or to a celebration. attempt to positioned on a pink colour it truly is lighter so that you do not look weird and wonderful. i began wearing makeup interior the sixth grade and that i'm now in college. i do not imagine that the age truly concerns, formidable pink lipstick would not look too flattering on a on a daily basis foundation, merely basic.

Why not try Loreal Color Juice lipstick? Not only is it a gloss, but it is also a lipstick. You can have the best of both worlds. Try it, I bet you might like it.
