I'm 5'5", 123 lbs. My measurements are: chest 34, waist 28, and hips 34. I feel fat!! Everyone tells me that I'm slim but I don't feel slim. I only eat once a day and I take laxatives once a week to clean myself. I know I have a problem and I'm well aware that this is not healthy, but I can't control myself. I've been doing this for a few years and I can't stop. I'm looking for advice and not critism, please tell me what should I do. Thank you.

To convince yourself you are not overweight, check out your Body Mass Index (BMI), which is an internationally accepted measurement of healthy weight.
Divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches, then multiply the result by 703.
Anything under 20 is underweight. Normal is 20-26, anything over that is corpulent.
There is a move in the fashion industry to stop using models with a BMI of 18 -- the ones who look like walking cadavers -- and it's high time, as this is one of the main reasons young women think of themselves as fat when they are at a normal body weight.
You have already identified your problem, and want to return to healthier habits -- that means you are more than half way there.
What you need now is the help of a trained therapist, who will be able to guide you in learning how to control your impulses, and to work towards a more normal eating pattern and lose your reliance on laxatives.
You can do this, because you have reached the critical point of not only recognizing a problem, but of wanting to solve it. That's half the battle.
So -- find yourself a good therapist (your doctor can help you) and work with him or her. Then come back on Yahoo and tell us when you've beaten your bete noir.
Good luck to you.

First of all, let me say that you are almost the ideal measurements. Second of all: It's good that you know that what you're doing isn't healthy. And in a way, it's not your fault. I mean, yes, you're taking the medication, but what you have is a disorder that's making you think you're fat when you're not. You need to see a psychologist. It's not your fault, but you need help that can't be given online. Call the local health clinic and see if they can give you a list of psychologists that have recieved a good rep and aren't too expensive. Don't wait to call either. You could be doing permentant damage to your system.

Why do anything at all? You're proportioned about as good as it gets and unless you're anemic from a poor diet then why would you change your lifestyle for what others may think of it? As for the laxatives, once a week is nothing and if it keeps you regular then so what, who cares if some people think that's nuts or weird. The fact is that in all probability a good number of those people need laxatives too though I'd prefer to see someone run a rubber tube up their dooky shoot so their brains could function right again.

This sounds like a classic case of body dysmorphia leaing to an eating disorder. I have body dysmorphia. Basically, it means that no matter how skinny you get, you will always see yourself as bigger than you are. It is comparbale to looking in a fun house mirror the kind that makes you look fat and dumpy.
You can overcome this, see a therepist. Take care of this before you do unreversable harm to yourself. Good luck. If you need to talk to someone who has been there.....feel free to email me.

Honestly, you won't find help here (you know it and I know it). There is nothing we can do to help you change yourself... But its a GREAT thing that you are looking for someone to help you, any small step you take is a good one. I think that your self-esteem is WAY to low for you too actually talk to a professional face to face right now but you absolutely HAVE TO force yourself.

Listen, for you to ask unqualified people here for help makes me believe that you do have a problem, you are fully aware of it, but you are scared of what you will be told by a doctor or shrink who is standing in front of you.

All we can do IS GIVE YOU ADVICE. YOU have to make the change happen... I can give you bad criticism about this ALL DAY... help yourself and stop procrastinating.

Nobody should criticize you. You are suffering from a distorted view of your body and you really need the help of a counsellor or others who experience the same problem. What you feel and what you are, are not in alignment. Please check with some community resources and get counselling. You deserve it. You deserve more than just advise from us. Find professional help or a help group because that's the best first step you can take to getting better! Lots of love.

You are halfway to getting better just by acknowledging that you have a problem. With therapy and maybe some medication to help deal with the obssesive thoughts. , you will get better. You do not need anyone telling you that you can not go on this way.So get help from a professional soon.Ther is no shame in being screwed up, just makes you human.

i used to have the same "anxiety" like you... i'm 5'3" (even shroter than you) 117lbs and has the same body measurement like you. i used to skip meals starve myself because, like you, i also feel fat even if people around me says i'm not (although there are also some who says i need to loose weight.) so like i said, i did everything that will take me to slim down--- starvation diets, exercises, and stuffs. i was obssessed. and then one say it just hit me... those things i've done were unhealthy and i've realized that i'm not the fattest girl in the world. there are other girls who are even way lot fatter than me and dont give a damn about the issue.
jus learn to love and be contented of your body, girl... you're all right.

Speak with your school's counsoler about your anxiety. By no means are you "fat" and some of the actions you choose to take concern me. If this goes on, you may develop an eating disorder which may lead to harmful effects on your body (like a dependency on laxitives). Be kind to yourself because you are beautiful!

You need to have a psyche evaluation after you have a physical. You do know that this kind of behavior sometimes leads to death. You could be screwing up your electrolytes which could cause cardiac problems and many more things. You had better do something, sweetie....your life may be in danger!
