I think it's wrong to want punish or exact revenge on people who commit crimes against other people or children, however hard this may be (and I know how hard this can be). The aim has to be to prevent the person from committing the crime again and just locking them up doesn't necessarily do that. The most economical (and humane) way of doing this must be to provide psychiatric help. If this fails then sometimes there is no choice but to keep them locked up for the safety of other people.
If people get pleasure out of harming others, or think it's ok to do so, then they are clearly in need of help, and I believe every person deserves this help.

People that commit any crimes against children- no matter what it may be- have serious mental issues... The ones who sexually abuse children need SERIOUS mental help.... I say non sex offenders- make they go through counseling for a few years- serve 1 year in prison- with no contact with other inmates. The next 5 with general population... Then if they screw up again- LIFE!! at least 40 years... then house arrest for 6 months......
In regard to people- it depends what the crime is. Out right murder- with no prior contact with the victim- LIFE. Anything worse- no contact with general population in prison for like 20 years, and Life.. If they know the victim- well then that's a very long, complicated situation...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its really is a case by case basis. The question is to vauge......Do i think our courts are too lenient- yes. Expecially with repeat offenders..... Do they give too many chances- yes. Are they understaffed- yes........
The child molesters- send em to a fn deserted island and let em rot in ....

It would depend on the crime. For some crimes like child abuse or child porn, I think the person should have to do prison time. The same can be said about murder in the first degree.
I do believe it is possible for people to change but it depends on lots of things. The problem seems to be that people don't want or are not willing to change bad behaviors that got them into trouble in the first place.

Depends on the individual - done deliberately they should be punished accordingly.
However it must not be overlooked that there are some who are mentally disturbed and not in full control - therefore surely they do need help and support and be placed where if the condition is untreatable they cannot repeat the crime but to put these people in prison seems rather harsh.

I definitely think a person who does a crime against a child should go to prison and not ever get a second chance.

Depending on the crime I would say the deserve to go to prison. If you touch a child you have real serious issues and deserve 10x worse than what you did to a child.

I think they should all be punished. especially if a child is involved. Even prisoners don't like inmates that have molested or hurt children in some way.
You have been asking some very deep questions. Is everything OK? Do you know some one who did this? I'm very concerned about you.

It depends on the crime committed really. Non-violent criminals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law to include any reimbursement and community service work.
Convicted violent criminals should be given the death penalty without the lengthy appeal process, especially crimes committed to children.

People who commit crimes need help besides jail so they can serve time. They were harmed psychologically because they were unloved as a child, but these criminals didn't know the meaning of love before they became criminals.

they have their reasons. yes their reasons may be wrong but they still have reasons. and nothing we do will ever stop crime - we just have to think up better ideas to help deal with the effects. some people who are psychologically damaged or have poor mental health i dont believe should go to prison as they didnt choose to be that way, but they should still not be allowed in public until they have become better (if ever) as it is a danger to society.
