It is even better than it looks, when we were going across the desert on horseback at sundown and then to look up and see the pyramids rising out of the desert, it was almost magical. This is the closest we will ever be to living history. Egypt is an amazing country, where else can you be driving in a huge city of millions and suddenly see a donkey cart? You travel outside the city and see the camels, see the way people live in houses, some of which haven't changed much. take a Nile cruise, it is so relaxing at night on board the ship and then you get to see a different historical site every day. The food is amazing, try shwarma, it is
great. I miss Egypt so much.

I go to Egypt at least once a year, been doing so since my first visit in 1998. To be fair, the pictures are always better than reality, whether Egypt or any other country but Egypt is beyond magnificent. There is so much to do and see, it all depends on what you are seeking.
If you are young and a party animal, then I strongly suggest Sharm El Sheikh - makes Ibiza look boring! Amazing night life, pubs, outings and the best diving in the world. There is no dull moment in sharm.
If you are the more cultured type and you are intrigued by ancient egypt, then I strongly recommend a nile cruise. Not only do you get to see all the amazing monuments of ancient egypt but the cruise it self is beyond imagination, very romantic too. Ancient Egyptian monuments and the stories related to them are simply amazing, I am not an Egyptology fan.
Cairo is a huge city, crowded and like any big city polluted and noisy, but worth spending a couple of days.
The people are great, friendly & hospitable. Egypt is very safe and a great value for money.
In other words, pack your bag :)

I visit Egypt yearly and I always like to visit places where tourists generally do not travel to. The countryside around Cairo is beautiful, and the people are so nice. I also like to visit during Eid because everyone stays awake all night long, and the stores and street vendors are always open. The main sites like the pyraminds, the Cairo tower, museum of natural history, cruises on the nile, and different cities are worth visiting. Im going in December and plan to take a train from Cairo to Aswan and take a cruise to visit the temple ruins. We plan to go on a hot air balloon ride over the west bank. I cant wait to go.

I'm Egyptian, Egypt is the greatest country in the region. You can find everything you want there. History, pleasure, science and religion . the best thing there is the generousity of the people.
I live in USA but I like Egypt better.

i loved the cruise i took through southern egypt/nubia. Spending time in aswan was my favorite. that place looks as great as the typical post cards of the nile area depending upon where you go. Alexandria looks great and isn't as dirty as cairo. Cairo was a disappointment b.c. it was so polluted I could feel the dirt attaching to my skin making me feel layered until I could shower. I once thought mexico was third world, but egypt wasn't as convenient as my mexico experience was in cuernavaca...i thought poor ppl. in mexico looked depressed, but the even more hollow look i saw of the poor in egypt was even more painful to see.

Yes, it is very beautiful. Exactly as you see it on TV and in the brochures. The only thing I found as a down was how hot it was. But I would definitely go back.
