My Daughter got silly putty on a flannel blanket she has and didn't know it. I've tried to wash it but it wouldn't come out. It was just gooshy, and worked it's way into the material. Now it is partially dried. Any ideas on how to get it out? What to use to pretreat it?

you can put an ice pack over it and 'freeze' it for about an hour and then pick off the putty with a butter knife....hope this helps

First, get the most of it off with physical means, like freezing it or picking it off.

Next, try Goo-gone and/or DeSolvit citrus cleaner. Let either one sit and dissolve the gummy stuff. I've tried WD-40 on Silly Putty. It works, but it takes a very long time.

After the Silly Putty is removed, wash the flannel blanket in hot water to remove any remaining Silly Putty and cleaners.

You can try to shave it,yes that's what I did when my kids got gum and wax or anything of that nature. You can also try putting that part between two pieces of paper towel and Iron it to see if you can remove some more of it. When you have no more left and there is only a stain But spray and wash or a drycleaning solvent and clean the stain.

Ice should work well enough to harden the putty enough to work it out.

You might want to try spraying on WD-40. It should break it up enough to be able to remove it by scraping it off.
