I have a question about the new show Jerico? Spoilers...?

Ok at the end of the show a woman was driving and she felt like driving over something. She got out of the car and saw that the road was full of dead animals or what was it?

What was it that was all over the road?

It was birds.
They had flown from the direction of the bomb and fallen out of the sky from rad. poisoning.
