depends on the make of your PC and what bios is installed.

When you start up your PC it should tell you on the load up screen (something like "press F2 to enter setup")

If it doesn't then try the following.

Turn on your PC and keep tapping F2. If it goes into the setup Screen (BIOS) then look for the graphics card settings and turn off on-board graphics. It is also helpful to increase the Graphics Aperture to the highest setting while you are there. Be careful with the settings on the BIOS or you can prevent your PC from booting.

If F2 doesn't work try the above with F12 or Delete key to get in to BIOS.

Hope this helps.

Be Careful!!

if your BIOS does not have a putting for that, you may nevertheless be ok. I actually have a board with built-in video, once I put in my 9800GTX, the BIOS recognizes a distinctive exhibit adapter and disables the built-in pics card so i will use the discrete pics card. Yours will greater desirable than in all probability do the comparable or, worst case concern it may teach 2 distinctive exhibit adapters on your OS... yet greater desirable than in all probability no longer. you would be high quality. Throw the cardboard in there and activity!

It is different depending on the motherboard manufacturer, but try the following tricks I've learned:

When you turn on your computer and see the first logo for your computer try pressing F8 every two seconds until the BIOS comes up.

If that doesn't work try pressing the "Del" button on your keyboard.

Finally they ESC key may also do the trick if the other ones didn't work.

Just shove the Graphics Card to it's socket.. The computer automatically detects it and disables the on board video for you no need to go to BIOS...

The graphics card that you install should become the default adapter. You should not need to disable the onboard card.

you should not have to, the PCI card should supersede the onboard, at least as long as it's PCI Express

if not we need BIOS version or type of computer if it's a brand name
