You are born with the ability. but it needs to be worked like any other muscle to build up strength.And it doesn't help if your parents and church say it is an evil thing and is an act of an evil person.
shut that nonsense out . but granted if you can do it there will be the temptation to use it for your own amusement and gain.resist the temptation to show off. and only use it for good .
The answers that I have not given poor ratings to on this issue have the right idea. Start out slowly with something light and enclose it it a container so that drafts will not move the flame. just your will through your soul.all things are connected through the soul,
There are or were devices out on the market for training purposes. I think their are still books on the market showing different techniques for learning how to do it.

Try it with a candle flame first. Make it flicker, or not. I have a friend who claims she turns her air conditioning on, or off by just thinking about it (she is hot or cold). Since everything has a electrical force, it could be true. Perhaps she just knows when the ac will kick on/off. Worth a try
