Basically yes the Nano is just a product named MP3 player, the best way is to use I-Tunes software which is both PC and Mac compatible and should come on a CD with the Nano- Else you can download it free from www.apple.com/uk It is really easy to use. If you have a music cd you can load it into your computer and the software converts it and synchronises it with the nano.

I pod is a brand name where as mp3 is A FORMAT.i think apple only allow you to use their software in their players so you cannot source music from elseware.Best ditch the i-pod and go for a MP-3 thats compatitable with many sources

Unfortunately the 2nd answer is correct, you have to use that crappy Itunes to get stuff onto the Ipods.

I'd have bought one if it behaved just like any other MP3 / 4 player and appeared as a removeable drive in My Computer, instead I bought another make that does exactly that.

I don't like Itunes at all.. bah humbug etc.

you have to download itunes and work with it from there...you have to set itunes as your default player and all your songs will transfer into itunes and then you just plug your ipod in and it will all go on your nano
