We have 2 computers in the house and both of them "had" yahoo set as a home page. well now all of a sudden yahoo doesnt work on my computer, it did for the first three months and now the only way i can get it to come up is if i type the address in, hit refresh a couple of times, then it will send me back to msn.com, (which is my homepage now) then i have to retype it in the address bar and hit refresh a couple more times and after a while it will work. this is the only site that does this and ive checked all of my block and allow options on all of my programs, mcafee, pcdoctor, windows firewall, and ive made sure cookies were being saved and it still wont come up. can someone help please.

apparently phantom wasnt paying attention. it is accesible after a "10 minute hassle" if you have no helpful information then go away. anyway to the people trying to help. i have cleared every cookie and every history item from my system. ran a defrag, scandisk, mcafee scan, and pc spyware doctor. then reebooted, created a restore point and thats when i decided to ask because it still wasnt working. i hope that helps a little more. thanks...

Cleaning your computer.

Clean your Browser Cache:

Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Delete Cookies, Files (check mark the box for OFFline Content in the window that appears) and Clear History buttons.

Go to the Sites button by Temp. Files and change the number to 50.

Check your HD for Defragmenting:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disk Defragmenter.

Clear Temp. Windows Files:

Exit all running programs, including browser, except your AV and AS programs. Exiting these might be necessary later (not usually).

Start>Run> type "%temp%" (no quotes)>OK>in the menu bar go to "Edit" click Select All>in the expanded menu select Delete or right click on the pane with the files highlighted and select Delete. When finished Close window.

Clear clutter in DSL modem (If used) and RAM:

Turn off the modem, computer and monitor in this order. Wait a minute or two and then restart in reverse order. Turning off he computer clears the RAM of clutter.

Did you go into internet tools and reset yahoo as your homepage? I know MSN messenger tries to hijack your homepage when you install it. Something hijacked your homepage anyway, very likely spy or adware.

Try running Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy. After you run those Install and run Spyware Blaster to maybe keep it from happening again. Make sure you get the latest updates on all three of those before running them.

Maybe some asshole company slipped in some spyware that is running in the back ground everytime you boot up......I was able to cure a similar problem by cleaning my registry out with regisrty mechanic.

I had a similar problem a few days ago, and P.C. crashed, I had to re-start
and re-load everything, It was caused by a virus, advertising to clean your P.C.
that tried to log into my system, fortunately my anti-virus worked, be careful
what buttons you push.
Regards
Lain.
P.S. It only happened whilst being on here.
