It's interesting. I lived in China for awhile and many people there also refer to themselves as yellow-skinned. Of course, the word for yellow in Chinese can also mean a kind of light brown color. But I've met a whole lot of Chinese who are lighter skinned than most European-Americans. At the same time, though, I've never met anyone anywhere who really looked "white," unless they were dead.
