You allowed it by not kicking his behind out the first time. Be an adult and accept that YOU enabled this.

I think that all these comments are ignorant to real emotional abuse look up narcassit 1 in 6 men are it is ery dangerous and a trap they are very good at and its just been put on record that it cause npd syndrome as well as ptsd and stockholmes syndrome get educated before u comment it like a fly in a web and when a women gets in contact with one she is caught off guard its a serious problem these men do it on purpose to destroy the women and its a CRIME in fact in the future this will change and be seen as domestic abuse mental is worse and all these comments come from a very immature lack of knowledge lack of experience and if u ever have it happen you will WAKE UP with ah ha moment

You most likely won't get a dime. Judges would see that you were willing to support him while you were together.
While its a very romantic ideal to take care of your man, it often cements a case like this between two people who are no longer together. Unless you can prove that he has outstanding debt to you, that were loans (you will be expected to furnish proof by a promissory note or other written contract signed by him for example you both signed a rental lease together as roomates) the judge will most likely consider everything you gave him..food rent.... bills...to be gifts.
As for suing for emotional abuse its unfortunate that this happened. Im sorry to hear about a man who seems to be a total jerk. However, your chances of getting money from your ex for that is equally slim. If you didn't throw him out for it during the course of the relationship, you most likely won't get anything from him for the abuse now that you are out of it.
Good luck in your future. I hope you find a man who will treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

Talk to the Domestic Violence people. If you decide to go to court his lawyer will rip you to shreads if he can. Like ask you if you have any mental illness.I speak from experience on trying to get a restraining order in another state,I had one in Co but it was no good in Iowa. My attorney warned me about the crap I'd have to go through and it wasn't worth it.Not exactly the same, but maybe help you think. I'm not a lawyer.Good luck In what ever you decide, but I doubt you can get a penny from the slob.

Anybody can sue anyone for any reason, but winning is another matter. I doubt that you have a cause of action, and I really doubt that you could collect a money judgment if you were to get one. Shame on you for not getting out of it sooner.

If you have all the bills, and the Police reports, go see an attorney.....good for you.
Depending on the state you are in, you may be able to put a judgment on him, but then again, a judgment doesn't mean anything if he isn't going to work. I wish you all the luck.

You could sue if you push the fact that he was physically abusive.
