Why do we find it necessary to continue and go on and live? Is it because we are to scared to kill ourselves, or is it because some of us simply don't see that there is no reason for life.

Obviously you don't see a reason for life. Make a game of it. He/she that dies with the most toys wins. Are you old enough to be asking this? I would have a much different answer for someone in their 90s.

When we have a look at nature, we see that animals have a survival instinct. Humans do have too. A person who is intelligent enough can consider suicide. Other animals can't (due to their lower intelligence). However, most humans are afraid of death, because of their natural survival instinct. Being afraid of death itself is not rational, because death to some is nothingness (loss of consciousness), while others believe there is an afterlife. Another reason may be that people are afraid of the pain that preceeds death such as choke, severe injury, etc.

From a philosophical point of view there is no reason to live. That does not mean we must approach it that way. I think you should try to build up a good life and make fun. That is most important. Most people live like they have infinite lives.

I had never thought of a suicide but I had cancer 3 years ago and these were the reasons I was afraid to die

1. My family. I would miss playing with my sons

2. The blue sky and the green trees

3. The smell of flesh air every morning

4. the sunrise and sunset every day and night

5. Walking by myself in the wood and listening to birds

6. The whispers of the wind

7. The musics of the earth

8. My parents

9. Helping others---I did not get much myself

10. Human drama. Sad or happy.

Just smile and laugh. Even if you have to do it yourself.

There is no hell! Just a gate and judgments. I came from three different religious background. Saw a ghost once.

Because I have a wonderful life and I'm grateful for everything I have, and the people I get to share it all with. I also brought children into this world and I want to continue raising them with my husband, and then have the opportunity to one day see them start their own lives and families.

Its a good question. I do sometimes think about it. If there is no ultimate purpose of life, and if we suffer more pains in life than pleasures then why stick to it. I think there are two reasons. Fear and Hope.
