Well, for old-school, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis are all still alive and still performing -
for embodying the rock'n'roll lifestyle & staying alive against all odds, you have to give props to Keith Richards, Jimmy Page and Iggy Pop -
for embodying the eternal promise of liberation that rock'n'roll offers, Bruce Springseen and John Fogerty -
for influence on the past, present and future, Paul McCartney.

im with Lucifer chuck berry or Jerry Lewis when i saw the question i thought Jerry these other people dont know who started rock n roll and who's left alive so Jerry lee Lewis he just put out a knew album cd sorry

Let's face it
You're only rock n roll when you're dead so choose one who nearest to being dead and I guess there are a few -Keef is a strong contender although he has survived that tree fall
