And when you know, do you stop or continue to the point of no return? If so, why?

There is no definitive state of being "drunk." Being drunk simply means that a person is, to some degree, impaired, physically or mentally due to the effects of alcohol.

Even a single drink can impair a full grown, expeerienced adult. What is in question is, to what degree is one impaired.

In driving, for instance, if somone is pulled over for some driving infraction, or suspicious driving behavior, the officer may conduct a sobriety test to determine the degree of impairedness. Simply having a beer or two under one's belt may not be a reason to arrest someone, so one might be able to pass this test and be allowed to continue driving.

However, in order to standardize drunk driving at some point where the police do not have to make a judgement call about "how drunk is too drunk to drive," most states have enacted laws that state that a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher is presumed to be at a high enough level to qualify as being automatically "too drunk to drive."

Please understand. Someone can be arrested for drunk driving with a BAC much lower than .08. If they can't pass the simple sobriety tests, then they ARE too drunk. But with a BAC above the legal limit, no tests need to be conducted, but officers usually do, anyway, to help assure a conviction.

The question you ask, "When do YOU know ...?" You don't. As an adult, you are presumed to have the judgement to make that determination for youself. That is why every state has enacted a legal drinking age, in most cases, three years after one is otherwise considered an adult.

I realize that this answer appears dry and pedantic, but the subject is serious. Anyone who makes the decision to "continue to the point of no return." is making an immature, juvenile decision, even for an adult. The "no return" point, meaning drinking until oblivion sets in neglects the fact that such oblivion means that the memory of the last part of the binge is erased. What is the point of "good times," if one can't remember them?

Wasted time. Wasted money. Wasted booze. Wasted brain cells. You know my point.

By the way, I have a sure fire, infallible way to fix my EXACT drinking limit. I drink untill I pass out. Subract two.

I have never experienced drinking (for medical reasons) therefore
my answer may be somewhat different from most. I do not know
how it is "is" to feel drunk so the only answer I can give is that you
should ask a friend who knows you, and has not had anything to
drink. I was not going to answer this question, but my complete
lack of knowledge "made me" answer since it is a completely
unbiased opinion.

I know I'm drunk when I start making inappropriate comments to women. Yes, I then keep going, because I couldn't stop even if I wanted to once I reach that point.

When I start to experience a time lag or lose my balance. At that point I switch to water for a while. I don't like the point of no return. I don't like having to hear about my night from other people.

When you are drunk, I don't believe you care to know. And, you keep thinking; I can keep drinking, because I can still stand up, or walk, or just keep sitting on the bar-stool, and I won't have to worry about all the above.

I usually only realise the next morning when I wake up the next morning and see who's lying next to me. as the old adage goes: I've never been to bed with an ugly woman but I've certainly woke up with a few

You start to get drunk from the time the first drop of liquor enters your mouth to the time it leaves.
