Actually, it's better to leave the computer on than off. Try leaving it on for several days, only turning it off once every week or two (less is perfectly okay, too.) It's kind of like a car on a freeway. When it runs it's base (Windows) and nothing else, it's at it's best.
The only reason you need to turn it off is so the "short-term memory" (RAM) can be dumped, and save all of it's information to the "long-term storage" (Hard Drive.)
And don't even bother with a screen saver. It doesn't save any energy, and burn-in no longer occurs on current day monitors. Just turn the monitor off when you're not using it.

Leaving your computer on for an extended period of time does no harm to your computer at all.I have my computer on for around 18 hours on Saturday's and Sunday's and it certainly does no harm to mine.
It is best to have your screensaver enabled as it prevents screen burnout.
Hope this will be of some help to you.

No, and yes. Your computer will be obsolete before you can damage it from continued use. I've habitually left my comp on for years - no problems. I believe that constant starting/stopping is worse.
Unless you are using some character-based OS where burn-in can actually occur, your screensaver is entertainment and security - not monitor protection.

It's actually better to leave you PC on instead of turning it off and on all the time. The off and on can damage it fi you do it to many times a day. I ususally leave my PC on all day if I know I'll be back n forth.
As for screen savers. They prevent something that is called burn in. Burn in is whne your monitor is left on too long with out a screen saver. The result is the picture is "burnt in" to the monitor. This happens with CRT (the big monitors). I've seen it plenty of times. You can see burn in on a monitor regardless of it being on or off, even if it's not connected to a pc, you'll see the burn in. Having the moving pictures of a screen saver prevent this from happening.

I leave mine all most of the time. I've been told it's better to just leave it on rather than turn it on and off all the time. I don't use a screen saver. I turn off my monitor when I'm not using the computer.

No. I leave mine on from 8am to 10pm every day. It is actually better to leave them on than continuously switching them on and off.
The heating and cooling stresses all the components much more than if they simply stay at the warm temp all the time.

in theory u shouldn't cos it's bad for you if ur on it for too long and to leave your computer on should really be a problem because web servers stay on 24/7 and they are simiklar to computers
screensavers are just decorative and can use up CPU meory depending on ur ss

No its not harmful at all. Computers dont feel pain, they dont get tired like we do. Theyre not even alive so you could even stab your computer with a knife if you wanted to. It might not work as good but its not harmful. Go ahead and stab it. I know youre curious.

screensavers used to be for the purpose of your screen not burning images. i don't think that's a factor anymore.
